Delhi Oh Sweet Delhi!!!!!!!

Hello World,

This is my first post as a blog... So pardon my inarticulate comments.......
I am a software engineer working and living in NOIDA ,a satellite town of New Delhi.......
Oh Delhi!!!! A great city with equal amount of good and the "BAD" things rolled into one.....

I love Delhi and hate it equally with a vehemence..........
First the charming and goodies' stuff about Delhi (Old and New sandwiched)........
DMRC or more popularly "Metro" is the silver lining on Delhi's portfolio, if ever resumes for cities were made,Delhi would put "Metro" as its prime achievement.
AH!!!! You know that you are upto something once you enter the "Metro stations" , "paan spits","garbage",etc are conspicuous by their absence, the stations (both underground and surface) are dazzingly clean....The underground stations give a surreal feeling with their sparkling lights....
Metro trains are both aesthetic-wise and engineering-wise great... and the ride is near perfect with the best ACs to beat the 48 degree celsius scorching heat of Delhi.....Next time don't forget to take a ride on "Underground Metro" from "CP(rajeev Chowk) to Delhi University and back".

Enough of Metro, another big thing to happen to Delhi is "roads". A few years back the roads in Delhi were congested and were ill-maintained and had pot-holes to offer but that is thing of the past... Now you have swankiest roads with trees planted and maintenance good enough if not perfect..... Do take a ride on DND (Delhi NOIDA Direct) flyway to have a feel of roads esp. the Bangalore guys...... There is a matrix of flyovers that have smoothened the traffic... Do take notice of AIIMS flyover......

The other big thing that happened to Delhi was "CNG"... OH!!! this step actually breathed O2 in Delhi.... Delhi was becoming moribund because of the effluents that "the killer DTC buses" were pumping in Delhi's milieu....
"CNG" enforcement helped a lot and now one can breathe fresh air in Delhi's once pollution infested environment....

Other thing that you will love infact lust about Delhi is the variety of food that Delhi has to offer.
Delhi is the perfect destination for anyone who takes one's food seriously.... Delhi is epicure's delight that doesn't mean that a person with a lesser taste won't enjoy food in Delhi.
The range is huge right from the famous "Tandoori Chicken" to "exotic Continental" , you name it and you have it..... The food is for any pocket right from rupees 10 onwards..... If you are first timer go to CP and choose from number of restaurants, if you are explorer - type try out joints in Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk.....

Enough of goodies there are more but then you got to see the other side of the coin also....

The biggest turn off in Delhi is the electricity mess..................Many areas in Delhi are known to have free ACs i.e the payment for power is never done.... Power theft is rampant.... the now famous "katiyas" are ubiquitous.... "Katiya" is a small wire that people use to connet power being carried in power lines to their home lines..... Private players have come but the problem has only worsened ,what with faulty meters put by the private players.

Another turn off is "Yamuna" or rather "The Great Delhi Nala(hindi for drain)" . The great city washes of all its dirt into the river which has become more of a nala rather than a river.....And the funniest thing is that nobody cares...... People and government are equally apathetic towards the river... Although supreme court may come to the rescue once again after CNG.....

Another one "the drivers" , Oh boy people in Delhi drive like as if their lives depended on driving recklessly and fast.... One will hardly see a car without a big scratch or a dent...Also almost daily one can see two automobile owners hurling choiciest of abuses to each other because they have banged into one another.

Another one , probably Delhiites including me if I am considered a Delhiite, have no sense of queue. Go to malls, go to reservation counters, go anywhere where queue is required and you can see a mess. A zig zagged queue , goons trying to get there first , the ticket window stuffed with hands, oh it hurts.

Some more New Delhi Railway Station the dirtiest of them all........Might be Laluji will come to the rescue.....

There are many more, the list of goodies and turn offs is certainly not exhaustive......

But one thing is sure I love Delhi.....
